How to make DIli a better place to live - Avelino

Some of the big problems in Dili are high unemployment, gang violence and poor building regulations.

Firstly, in order to deal with the problem of high unemployment, the government needs to support small companies. If more people are able to start and develop businesses, this would help people to find jobs. The government could do this by providing grants or low interest loans. By doing this we would see more local people working and earning money.

Secondly, gang violence is a big problem among young people. The situation could be improved by helping young people to find jobs, non-formal training or other healthy activities like sports. This would give young people a better way to use their spare time.

Finally, the problem of poor building regulations is a serious one in Dili. It would be a good idea for the government to provide clear rules and guidelines for people to follow so that they don't have problems in the future. If the government could enforce the rules the result would be better buildings for the general public and the government will save money when building and maintaining public infrastructure.

How can we make Dili a better place to live? Aida

Litter, dust, and animals are the most serious problems in Dili nowadays, what can we do to help people live in healthy environment?
First of all, it would be a good idea to help people and educate the children through campaigns at schools or universities. So that, children and adults might be able understand and know how to put rubbish in the bins.  Also the Government should put rubbish bin in the streets, at terminals or bus stations. To make sure everyone can throw away their rubbish when they have finished with it. The result would be good; there would not be rubbish everywhere. If it is in the rainy season, it would not cause floods in the streets or on the roads.
Secondly, in order to make Dili the best place to live, we should ask the Government especially through the Ministry which is relevant to the public works to build drainage next to the road and fix all of the roads. So that, it can minimize the dust.
Finally, it would be better if we made an animal law so that, the animals can live safely in one place instead of walking around the streets and not crossing the road. The result would be to minimize the accidents for people who ride a motorbikes or cars.
To sum up, educating people through the schools or universities, build good roads and putting the animals in proper places it would create a good environment for people to live.
