Vicente shares his views on relieving stress

Exercise is better than drinking alcohol if you want to relieve stress

Personally, I believe that exercise is essential for relieving people’s stress and improving their health.  Exercise is one of the habits that people should consider. Today, many people are involved in sports as a way of exercises. For example, both sexes from different ages in Timor-Leste like to run every afternoon or morning. Nevertheless, some people prefer to drink alcohol after work to relief their stresses.
In the first place, when people exercise effectively, like running, playing football, yoga and other exercise they can help to ease stress and improve health. As an example, running is an exercise that enables blood to flow smoothly to all organs in our body. In addition, it helps people’s heart rate to pump normally.
Nevertheless, some people claim that drinking alcohol can help to reduce their stress.  In Timor-Leste, some people like to drink local wine or whiskey after spending long hours at work. This habit can be a good one as long people don’t drink excessively. Because alcohol causes serious damage to your brain as it can affect the way the brain looks and works.
Despite the arguments above, I would say that playing football, running and yoga are the best exercise.  People can easily get sick if they don’t.

Development of Timor-Leste - Leonor

Timor-Leste is a new country in Asia, that received independence thirteen years ago, so there are several things needed in order to develop the country.

Firstly, if we want to develop the country more, we have to maintain good trade relations with neighbouring countries to maintain exports and franchises.

Secondly, we have to build good infrastructure. As we all know, here in Timor-Leste, there aren't many special buildings that can attract visitors except Timor-Plaza. So, we should build some attractions such as shopping centers, malls, big stores and even an airport. I think that these could be a good idea because through them, we could attract many investors. Not only that, it could also minimize unemployment in this country.

Lastly, tourism spots. Through these we could increase our country's economy.

In short, good trade relations, infrastructure and tourist spots are good ideas for developing the country.

How to make DIli a better place to live - Avelino

Some of the big problems in Dili are high unemployment, gang violence and poor building regulations.

Firstly, in order to deal with the problem of high unemployment, the government needs to support small companies. If more people are able to start and develop businesses, this would help people to find jobs. The government could do this by providing grants or low interest loans. By doing this we would see more local people working and earning money.

Secondly, gang violence is a big problem among young people. The situation could be improved by helping young people to find jobs, non-formal training or other healthy activities like sports. This would give young people a better way to use their spare time.

Finally, the problem of poor building regulations is a serious one in Dili. It would be a good idea for the government to provide clear rules and guidelines for people to follow so that they don't have problems in the future. If the government could enforce the rules the result would be better buildings for the general public and the government will save money when building and maintaining public infrastructure.

How can we make Dili a better place to live? Aida

Litter, dust, and animals are the most serious problems in Dili nowadays, what can we do to help people live in healthy environment?
First of all, it would be a good idea to help people and educate the children through campaigns at schools or universities. So that, children and adults might be able understand and know how to put rubbish in the bins.  Also the Government should put rubbish bin in the streets, at terminals or bus stations. To make sure everyone can throw away their rubbish when they have finished with it. The result would be good; there would not be rubbish everywhere. If it is in the rainy season, it would not cause floods in the streets or on the roads.
Secondly, in order to make Dili the best place to live, we should ask the Government especially through the Ministry which is relevant to the public works to build drainage next to the road and fix all of the roads. So that, it can minimize the dust.
Finally, it would be better if we made an animal law so that, the animals can live safely in one place instead of walking around the streets and not crossing the road. The result would be to minimize the accidents for people who ride a motorbikes or cars.
To sum up, educating people through the schools or universities, build good roads and putting the animals in proper places it would create a good environment for people to live.
